Amritsar- Bapu Tarsem Singh, father of Bhai Amritpal Singh, Chief of the organization “Akali Dal Waris Punjab De” and Member of Parliament from Lok Sabha constituency Khadoor Sahib, has written a letter to the Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, demanding that in view of the grave flood situation in the villages of Khadoor Sahib constituency, Bhai Amritpal Singh be granted at least one month’s parole so that, as a Member of Parliament, he can stand with the people of his constituency in this hour of crisis and provide assistance.

In the memorandum sent to the Union Home Minister today through the Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar, Bapu Tarsem Singh wrote that Bhai Amritpal Singh has been unjustly detained under the NSA in Dibrugarh jail for the last three years. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the voters of Khadoor Sahib constituency elected Bhai Amritpal Singh as their Member of Parliament with record-breaking votes so that he could stand with the people in their joys and sorrows.

Today, during the grave flood situation in Punjab, the people of Khadoor Sahib constituency have been the most affected. In these villages, houses, fields, crops, and dairy cattle have suffered heavy losses. During this crisis, the people of Khadoor Sahib are facing greater difficulties due to the absence of their Member of Parliament.

Bapu Tarsem Singh requested the Union Home Minister that in view of the flood situation, Bhai Amritpal Singh be immediately granted at least one month’s parole so that he may come to his constituency, stand with the flood-affected people, take proper stock of the damages, and fulfill his constitutional responsibility in the relief operations.

He further demanded that the share of funds allocated for Members of Parliament be immediately released in respect of Bhai Amritpal Singh so that the amount may be used for the restoration of damaged houses, schools, health facilities, and other relief works in the flood-affected areas of Khadoor Sahib constituency. Along with this, he urged that the severe floods in Punjab be declared a national calamity and a special relief package be granted.

Bapu Tarsem Singh also mentioned that since 14 August, the organization “Akali Dal Waris Punjab De” had already started relief work by setting up relief camps in the flood-affected areas of Punjab, and now the number of permanent relief camps has reached 14, where the workers of “Akali Dal Waris Punjab De” are continuously present to serve the people. On this occasion, Mata Balwinder Kaur was also present with him.
